Jio Launches Free Sound-Pay Feature On Jio Bharat Phone

Jio has announced the launch of a groundbreaking feature, JioSoundPay, which will be available for free on the JioBharat phone. This industry-first innovation is designed to support 5 crore small and micro merchants across India, enhancing their ability to receive instant audio confirmations for UPI payments without the need for a traditional sound box.

With JioSoundPay, merchants  including small kirana stores, vegetable vendors, and roadside eateries will now receive multilingual sound alerts for every UPI payment, making transactions smoother and more efficient.

Small and micro merchants have long relied on sound boxes to confirm payments, which typically cost around Rs 125 per month. With JioSoundPay being provided free of charge, JioBharat users stand to save up to Rs 1,500 annually an incredible boost for small business owners who work tirelessly to sustain their businesses.

This move aligns with Jio’s commitment to supporting small businesses and entrepreneurs, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas where affordable technology solutions can make a significant impact.

Affordable Technology For Every Merchant

Launched over a year ago, the JioBharat phone is currently the world’s most affordable 4G phone, priced at just Rs 699. For small merchants, purchasing a new JioBharat phone with JioSoundPay means they can recover the entire cost of the device in as little as six months, thanks to the savings on sound box fees.

Celebrating Republic Day With A Musical Tribute

In celebration of India’s 75th Republic Day, Jio introduces contemporary renditions of the iconic Vande Mataram through JioSoundPay. The rendition blends timeless melodies with modern musical elements, offering a soulful tribute to the nation. Jio encourages Indians to set this beautiful version of Vande Mataram as their JioTune via the MyJio app or JioSaavn, further enhancing the cultural significance of the feature.

Mr. Sunil Dutt, President of Jio, emphasized the company’s commitment to leveraging technology to empower every Indian. “With the free JioSoundPay feature on JioBharat and the soulful renditions of Vande Mataram, we celebrate the spirit of India and reaffirm our commitment to building a truly Digital India,” he said.
