JIH President Syed Sadatullah Husaini Voices Concerns Over Rising Violence Against Muslims And Middle East Turmoil

In a recent press conference at the Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) headquarters, President Syed Sadatullah Husaini addressed critical issues, including the recent election results in Jammu & Kashmir and Haryana, rising violence against Muslims, and the escalating situation in the Middle East. He emphasized the urgent need for the newly formed governments to focus on the pressing issues facing the public, particularly economic development and restoring statehood to Jammu & Kashmir. “Their work should be for the progress and prosperity of all, without any discrimination,” he stated.

Alarming Violence and Attacks on Places of Worship

Husaini expressed deep concern over the alarming rise in violence against Muslims and attacks on their places of worship. He remarked, “False accusations against Muslim youth are inciting violence, and mosques and religious sites are being demolished. Recently, in Gir Somnath district, a 500-year-old cemetery, mosque, and shrines were destroyed.”

Furthermore, he addressed the issue of hate speech, stating, “People make derogatory comments against the Prophet (PBUH) to hurt Muslim sentiments, and the lack of action against the culprits emboldens them.”

It is imperative for the country’s leaders, intellectuals, and religious figures to raise their voices against those spreading hate in the name of religion and culture.”

Concerns Over ‘One Nation, One Election’ Proposal

Transitioning to political matters, Husaini further criticized the ‘One Nation, One Election’ proposal. He argued that holding parliamentary and state assembly elections simultaneously would sideline specific state issues, weaken the federal structure, and diminish the influence of regional parties.

“This approach reduces the pressure on the government to remain accountable to the public, which is detrimental to democracy. Jamaat strongly opposes this idea,” he asserted.

Escalating Tensions in the Middle East

Addressing the situation in the Middle East, Husaini warned of a potential devastating war between Israel and Iran. He described the current conflict as part of an agenda to eliminate the possibility of a two-state solution for Palestine, further destabilizing the region.

“Israel has waged a genocidal war for over a year, resulting in thousands of deaths, particularly in Gaza, where more than 40,000—mostly women, children, and the elderly—have died. This blatant terrorism constitutes a grave violation of international humanitarian law,” he stated.

Husaini urged the United Nations and the global community to take action. He called for sanctions against Israel and accountability for its war crimes. Additionally, he requested the UN Security Council to form an allied force to enforce an immediate ceasefire and neutralize Israel to prevent further destruction.

He also appealed to the Indian government to break its silence and collaborate with moderate Arab states to de-escalate tensions and foster peace in the region.

Jamaat Delegation Reports on Demolitions

Accompanying Husaini at the conference were Jamaat’s Vice President, Salim Engineer, and National Secretary, Shafi Madani, who recently visited Somnath to assess the demolitions.

Engineer presented detailed accounts of the illegal demolitions, highlighting that officials unlawfully razed several shrines, tombs, a mosque, an Eidgah, and a cemetery covering 200 acres.

He called for an immediate halt to such demolitions, restoration of the religious sites, and strict action against the officials responsible.
