Union Culture and Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat expressed his grief on the social media platform X, stating, “It is very sad to know that Shri Ratan Tata ji is no longer among us. A visionary businessman and philanthropist, he left an indelible mark on India’s corporate landscape.
His legacy of ethics, empathy, and compassion will always inspire.” Shekhawat extended his heartfelt condolences to the Tata Group family and all those whose lives Tata touched with his generosity and kindness. He described Tata’s passing as the “end of an era.”
Later, Shekhawat participated in Tata’s last journey, honoring him with a tribute. In another post on X, he wrote, “Today, I paid tribute to Shri Ratan Tata ji. He was an institution in himself, and his contributions to our country will remain unmatched. Om Shanti.”
Ratan Tata, the honorary chairman of Tata Sons, passed away late on October 9 at Breach Candy Hospital due to age-related health issues. He was 86 years old.
Tata served as chairman of the Tata Group from March 1991 until December 28, 2012, and briefly returned to lead the group from 2016 to 2017 before taking on the honorary chairman role.
