International Women’s Day: Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Joins ‘Shakti Walk – #SheLeadsBharat’ At Kartavya Path

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday participated in the ‘Shakti Walk – #SheLeadsBharat’ on International Women’s Day at Kartavya Path, highlighting women’s strength, leadership and contribution to society.

The Ministry of Women and Child Development organised the march, which saw the participation of several prominent leaders.

Among those present were Union Minister for Women and Child Development Annapurna Devi, Ministers of State Anupriya Patel and Savitri Thakur, along with National Commission for Women Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar.

The walk began from India Gate and covered nearly two kilometres before concluding at Vijay Chowk.

Addressing participants during the event, Chief Minister Gupta described the initiative as a meaningful tribute to women’s achievements and leadership. She said that women today are not only the backbone of families and communities but are also emerging as key contributors to nation-building.

CM Gupta noted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, women across the country are increasingly taking up leadership roles and excelling in diverse fields, including science, governance, entrepreneurship, education, sports and defence.

Delhi Chief Minister said the ‘Shakti Walk’ symbolises more than a commemorative event, calling it a collective pledge to recognise and strengthen the role of women in society.

“It provides an important platform to recognise the role, contribution and leadership of women in society,” she said, adding that the strength and vision of women have the potential to guide society towards new directions of progress.

Focus on Empowerment and Equal Opportunities

The Chief Minister emphasised that International Women’s Day is not only a celebration of achievements but also a reminder of the need to ensure greater opportunities, security and respect for women.

She added that empowering women through access to education, healthcare, employment and leadership positions ultimately accelerates the progress of both society and the nation.

Nearly 3,000 women from different sectors took part in the march, including representatives from the armed forces, police, healthcare services, sports community and government institutions. Grassroots workers such as Anganwadi and ASHA workers also joined the walk.

Participants from more than 150 ministries, departments and organisations came together for the event, showcasing the wide-ranging presence of women in various fields.

Along the route, special 2D and 3D installations were displayed to highlight women’s contributions across sectors.

The installations carried themes such as ‘She Inspires Bharat’, ‘She Connects Bharat’, ‘She Governs Bharat’, ‘She Innovates Bharat’, ‘She Empowers Bharat’ and ‘She Nurtures Bharat’.

The Sangeet Natak Akademi also presented a cultural programme celebrating national pride near India Gate.

Participants received medals after completing the walk in recognition of their enthusiasm and participation in the event.
