IndiGo Flight Makes Precautionary Landing In Delhi After Mid-Air Technical Snag

A passenger flight operated by IndiGo carried out a precautionary landing at Indira Gandhi International Airport on Saturday after a technical irregularity was detected mid-operation, officials confirmed.

The aircraft, with 161 people on board, landed safely following a full emergency protocol activated at the airport.

Fire services and emergency teams were positioned in advance, though no untoward incident or damage was reported after touchdown.

The flight, numbered 6E 579, had departed from Visakhapatnam and was approaching Delhi when the cockpit crew identified an issue. The problem was linked to one of the engines.

Acting as per standard aviation safety procedures, the pilots sought immediate landing clearance.

The aircraft involved is a Boeing 737 leased from Corendon Airlines under a short-term arrangement.

Airline officials stated that the landing was conducted without complications and that the aircraft had been withdrawn from service temporarily for detailed technical checks.

Emergency services were alerted at around 10:54 AM, with fire tenders deployed as a precautionary step.

In a separate update, the airline cautioned travellers in Aizawl about adverse weather conditions. These include persistent rain and thunderstorms that could disrupt road connectivity.

Passengers were advised to verify flight schedules before departure and plan for possible delays in reaching the airport.

On the financial front, shares of InterGlobe Aviation, which operates IndiGo, ended Friday’s session at Rs 4,102.10 on the BSE, reflecting a drop of more than 4 per cent.
