Indian Railways Exhibition At Mahakumbh Showcases Heritage And Development

Indian Railways is making its mark at Maha Kumbh 2025, showcasing both the nation’s rich railway heritage and future advancements in transportation. In line with the government’s focus on heritage and development, the exhibition highlights the contributions of Indian Railways to national progress, while also ensuring seamless travel for millions of pilgrims attending the event.

The exhibition, set up in Sector-1 of the Maha Kumbh Mela area, offers visitors a unique opportunity to explore models of some of India’s most iconic railway infrastructure, such as the Chenab and Pamban bridges. These models demonstrate India’s engineering prowess and the advancements in railway technology.

Chenab Bridge: A Marvel Of Engineering

One of the exhibition’s standout attractions is the model of the Chenab Rail Bridge, the world’s highest railway bridge, located in Jammu and Kashmir. Standing 359 meters above the riverbed 35 meters taller than the Eiffel Tower the bridge exemplifies India’s cutting-edge engineering capabilities.

Alongside it, visitors can also view the Pamban Bridge, India’s first sea rail bridge, which features a fully automated vertical lift span, highlighting the innovative strides made in railway infrastructure.

The exhibition also features models of India’s most advanced trains, including the Amrit Bharat, Namo Bharat, and Vande Bharat sleeper trains. The Amrit Bharat is a superfast express train, while the Namo Bharat is India’s first EMU train, designed to cover the Meerut to Ashok Nagar route in just 40 minutes.

These futuristic trains reflect the government’s commitment to modernizing India’s railway network and improving passenger experience.

Railways’ Contribution During National Emergencies

In addition to showcasing the latest developments, the exhibition highlights Indian Railways’ historical contributions to the nation, particularly during times of national crises. Models and displays commemorate the role the Railways played during the 1965, 1971, and Kargil wars, underlining its importance as a lifeline during critical national events.

Beyond the exhibition, Indian Railways is making significant efforts to enhance the travel experience for pilgrims attending Maha Kumbh. To manage the large crowds and ensure smooth travel, the Railways has set up temporary ticket counters, enquiry rooms with electronic display boards, and multilingual announcement systems.

These measures are designed to assist pilgrims and improve accessibility, ensuring that their journey to the event is as convenient and comfortable as possible.

A Symbol Of Unity And Progress

Indian Railways, known as the backbone of the country’s transportation network, plays a key role in connecting India’s diverse regions from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and Gujarat to Arunachal Pradesh. It serves as both a unifying force and a carrier of India’s heritage, while aligning with the development vision of the double-engine government.

The exhibition at Maha Kumbh 2025 is a testament to the Railways’ dual role in preserving India’s heritage and driving progress through innovation.
