In a decisive military response, the Indian Armed Forces launched ‘Operation Sindoor’ on Wednesday, executing precision strikes on nine terror camps located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoK).
The operation was undertaken just days after a heinous terrorist attack in Pahalgam that claimed the lives of 26 individuals, including 25 Indians and one Nepali citizen.
An official statement released by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) confirmed the targeted nature of the operation.
“A little while ago, the Indian Armed Forces launched ‘OPERATION SINDOOR’, hitting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and PoK from where attacks against India have been planned and directed,” the Ministry said.
Taking to X, the Ministry posted, “India has launched #OperationSindoor, a precise and restrained response to the barbaric #PahalgamTerrorAttack that claimed 26 lives, including one Nepali citizen. Focused strikes were carried out on nine #terrorist infrastructure sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, targeting the roots of cross-border terror planning.”
“Importantly, no Pakistani military facilities were hit, reflecting India’s calibrated and non-escalatory approach. This operation underscores India’s resolve to hold perpetrators accountable while avoiding unnecessary provocation. A detailed briefing on the operation will follow later today,” the post further added.
According to the MoD, the operation was carefully designed to be ‘focused, measured and non-escalatory’.
In a notable move, the Indian military ensured that no Pakistani military facilities were targeted.
This strategic restraint underlines India’s commitment to combating terrorism without provoking unnecessary military escalation.
The Ministry further stressed that the action reflects India’s resolve to hold perpetrators accountable for the ‘barbaric’ Pahalgam attack.
“We are living up to the commitment that those responsible for this attack will be held accountable,” the statement added.
On social media, the Indian Army reaffirmed the success and purpose of the operation.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), it wrote, “Justice is served. Jai Hind!” and shared the motto: “प्रहाराय सन्निहिताः, जयाय प्रशिक्षिताः” – which translates to “Ready to strike, trained to win.”
A detailed briefing on the operation is expected later in the day, according to the MoD. It will provide further insight into the planning, execution, and outcomes of this major cross-border anti-terror effort.
‘Operation Sindoor’ sends a clear message of India’s zero-tolerance stance against terrorism and its preparedness to act against cross-border threats.
The operation stands as both a tribute to those killed in Pahalgam and a warning to terror networks operating beyond Indian borders.
The nation’s armed forces have once again demonstrated their capability and commitment to protecting the sovereignty and security of India.
