India, Zambia Sign Pact To Boost Cooperative Trade Alliances

India has signed an agreement with Zambia to promote cooperative trade alliances between the two nations, Cooperation Minister Amit Shah said on Tuesday.

In a written reply to the Lok Sabha, Shah said the Cooperation Ministry is working to strengthen India’s cooperative export ecosystem through Indian missions abroad.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed with Zambia on 18 July to promote cooperatives and create facilities for trade alliances between cooperatives of both countries.

Shah said the ministry is using Indian missions abroad to provide market information to National Cooperative Exports Ltd (NCEL) and connect with importers from targeted countries.

NCEL is playing a key role in expanding India’s cooperative footprint internationally. These initiatives aim to ensure Indian cooperatives can tap into emerging global markets and form sustainable partnerships.

Shah informed Parliament that NCEL has also signed MoUs with Senegal and Indonesia-based entities, Sinton Vantage Trading and PT Sinton Surini Nusantara.

The government sees cooperative trade alliances as a vital tool for boosting rural income, promoting indigenous products, and strengthening India’s presence in the global cooperative sector.
