India To Provide Foreign Defence Attaches With Insights On ‘Operation Sindoor’

India is set to brief Defence Attaches (DAs) from various foreign embassies based in New Delhi on May 13, 2025.

The session, scheduled for 3:30 PM, will provide in-depth technical details about ‘Operation Sindoor’, the country’s recent anti-terror military offensive.

The briefing will include insights into India’s operational strategies and outcomes, particularly focusing on the performance of the country’s indigenous air defence systems and the results of the strike missions carried out between May 7 and May 10.

Air Defence Systems & Drone Interceptions

During the briefing, the Indian armed forces will share key details about the role of the air defence systems, such as the indigenous Akash missile system, in the success of ‘Operation Sindoor’.

These systems were crucial in intercepting and destroying hostile Chinese and Turkish-made drones, along with PL-15 missiles.

The drones posed a significant threat to Indian airspace, and the interception prevented any potential breaches during the operation.

The session will provide a thorough analysis of how these air defence systems effectively neutralised aerial threats and safeguarded India’s sovereignty.

DGMO’s Statement On Military Preparedness

The session follows a statement by Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai, Director General of Military Operations (DGMO), who addressed the media on May 12.

Lt Gen Ghai credited the Indian government’s policy and budgetary support over the past decade for enabling the creation of a robust air defence infrastructure.

He emphasised that the military’s battle-tested systems, particularly the Akash missile system, played a decisive role in neutralising Pakistan’s retaliatory aerial attacks on May 9 and 10.

This effective defence response was crucial in maintaining airspace security during the heightened tensions.

Hotline Discussion Between Indian & Pakistani DGMOs

Another key topic in the briefing will be the recent exchange between the Indian and Pakistani DGMOs, which took place on the evening of May 12.

Lt Gen Ghai and Maj Gen Kashif Abdullah of Pakistan discussed restoring calm along the Line of Control (LoC) and reaffirmed their commitment to the ceasefire agreement that followed India’s operation.

Official sources indicated that Pakistan assured India that it would not escalate the conflict and would adhere to the ceasefire.

The two military leaders agreed to maintain restraint and continue monitoring the situation closely.

PM Modi’s Address On India-Pakistan Relations

On the same day as the briefing, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation for the first time since the ceasefire agreement.

In his speech, PM Modi reiterated India’s strong stance on Pakistan, stating that India would only engage in dialogue with Islamabad on issues related to terrorism and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

He strongly condemned Pakistan’s continued support for terror outfits and warned that such actions could ultimately lead to its downfall.

Pakistan’s Proposal For The Indus Waters Treaty

Amidst reports of a ceasefire proposal from Pakistan, India has made it clear that any potential talks will remain strictly confined to issues of terrorism and PoK.

Pakistan suggested reviving the Indus Waters Treaty, which India had suspended as a strategic pressure tactic.

However, India firmly stated that it will not revive the treaty or engage in broader negotiations with Pakistan unless these core issues are addressed.

PM Modi’s remarks highlight India’s commitment to safeguarding its security while maintaining peace and stability in the region.
