India Poised To Shape Future Of 5G, AI & Cybersecurity, Says PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday lauded India’s strides in expanding affordable broadband, transforming digital payments through UPI, and adopting technology in governance.

The PM affirmed that India will spearhead the next wave of digital transformation in 5G, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT) and cybersecurity and noted that the world now treats these achievements as global case studies.

The Prime Minister’s Office, resharing a post by Union Minister of Communications Jyotiraditya M Scindia, posted, “Union Minister Shri @JM_Scindia highlights that India’s progress in affordable broadband, UPI and digital governance is now a global case study. He underscores that in the next wave of 5G, AI, IoT and cybersecurity, India will lead and set benchmarks.”

Scindia, in his post, emphasised Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited’s (BSNL) collaborations with global technology leaders Ericsson, Qualcomm, Cisco, and Nokia. He described these partnerships as vital to preparing India’s youth to command the frontiers of digital innovation.

According to the minister, these initiatives align with flagship programmes such as Digital India, Skill India, Make in India, and Startup India, aiming to position the country as a global hub for telecom innovation and expertise.

Apex training institute at the core

At the heart of this effort is BSNL’s apex training institute, Bharat Ratna Bhim Rao Ambedkar Institute of Telecom Training (BRBRAITT) in Jabalpur, which will serve as the nodal centre for advanced skilling and research.

Ericsson will, however, establish a 5G Centre of Excellence at BRBRAITT, offering hands-on training based on global best practices. Qualcomm will sponsor training for the first 100 students in 5G and AI, opening new avenues for employability.

Cisco will expand its Networking Academy to strengthen access to world-class training in networking and cybersecurity, while Nokia will set up a 5G and AI-ML Lab offering joint certifications to enhance industry readiness.

Scindia noted that the initiative will benefit students, working professionals, and public sector employees.

Training modules will range from two-week intensive programmes to 84-hour comprehensive courses, ensuring participants gain the expertise required to thrive in an evolving digital economy.

The minister highlighted that these collaborations would not only build technical proficiency but also create a skilled workforce capable of driving India’s leadership in digital technology on the global stage.

PM Modi’s remarks underline India’s ambition to move from being a consumer of technology to becoming a creator of global standards in next-generation domains.

With 5G deployment, AI adoption, and IoT expansion, India is accelerating its digital transformation. The country is also focusing on cybersecurity to position itself as a benchmark setter in the global digital journey.
