The constituents of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) have announced their intention to jointly participate in the 2024 national elections to the extent possible. They have also committed to initiating and concluding seat-sharing agreements in various states with a collaborative spirit of cooperation.
During the third meeting of the INDIA bloc held in Mumbai, a resolution was passed outlining their plans. In addition to their electoral collaboration, the alliance intends to organize public rallies across the country to address issues of public concern and importance. They will also coordinate communication and media strategies under the campaign theme “Judega Bharat, Jiteega India” in multiple languages.
Leaders representing 28 opposition parties convened in Mumbai following a surprise announcement by the government regarding a special session of Parliament in September. Chief Ministers Mamata Banerjee and Nitish Kumar stressed the need for prompt decision-making during the meeting, and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal suggested that seat-sharing discussions should commence at the state level. Some leaders within the bloc cautioned against holding early general elections, which were originally scheduled for April-May 2024.

Mamata Banerjee proposed that the alliance should identify a set of five or six key issues and launch their election campaign by announcing these priorities from Rajghat in Delhi on October 2.
While the earlier INDIA bloc meetings in Patna and Bengaluru in June and July focused on bringing together like-minded parties with similar ideological positions, the Mumbai meeting was dedicated to planning for the upcoming elections. These deliberations mark the group’s first concrete efforts to address substantive issues related to leadership and political strategy, moving beyond symbolic unity.
