India And Japan Deepen Strategic Partnership As PM Sanae Takaichi Wraps Up Landmark Visit

Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi departed India on Friday after completing her inaugural official visit to the country since assuming office.

The visit focused on expanding cooperation between the two nations and reaffirming their long-standing strategic partnership.

Minister of State for Science and Technology Jitendra Singh saw Prime Minister Takaichi off at the airport as she concluded her visit.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) described the trip as a major milestone in advancing India-Japan relations.

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the discussions underscored both countries’ shared commitment to promoting peace, stability and sustainable growth across the Indo-Pacific region and beyond.

Prime Minister Takaichi visited India from 1 to 3 July and joined Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the 16th India-Japan Annual Summit.

During the summit, the two leaders reviewed ongoing cooperation and discussed ways to strengthen collaboration in several strategic and economic sectors.

The meeting reflected the growing importance both governments place on their comprehensive partnership.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted a dinner in honour of Prime Minister Takaichi on Thursday evening.

Following the engagement, the Japanese leader expressed appreciation for the warm welcome and generous hospitality extended by the Indian Prime Minister.

She said their conversations covered bilateral relations, global developments, and the cultural traditions and cuisines of both countries. Takaichi added that the informal setting enabled both leaders to build stronger personal trust.

Prime Minister Takaichi said the goodwill developed during the visit would help elevate India-Japan relations in the years ahead.

She also expressed optimism about expanding bilateral cooperation as both nations prepare to celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations next year.
