Prime Minister Narendra Modi dials Manu Bhaker and congratulates her on clinching India’s first medal at the Paris Olympics 2024. Bhaker secured a bronze medal in the 10m Air Pistol Final on Sunday.
PM Modi lauded her victory as an “incredible achievement.” Using the microblogging site X, the prime minister wrote, “A historic medal! Well done, @realmanubhaker, for winning India’s FIRST medal at #ParisOlympics2024! Congrats on the Bronze. This success is even more special as she became the 1st woman to win a medal in shooting for India. An incredible achievement!”
Manu Bhaker expressed her gratitude to the government for all the “support and encouragement” and thanked PM Modi for his “blessings.”
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also praised Manu Bhaker, saying the “nation swells in pride at your achievement.” He posted on X, “Kudos to @realmanubhaker on winning the first medal in the Paris Olympics 2024, by bringing home the bronze. You have sent a wave of euphoria across the nation with your stellar performance. The nation swells in pride at your achievement.”

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh stated that Manu Bhaker’s victory “has brought immense pride to our nation.” He wrote, “Congratulations to @realmanubhaker for her exceptional performance and winning the Bronze Medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Her victory has brought immense pride to our nation. I wish her the very best for her endeavors ahead.”
Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, added his congratulations, saying, “Congratulations to @realmanubhaker for securing India’s first medal at the Paris Olympics 2024! Your remarkable performance and dedication in the 10-meter air pistol event have earned you a well-deserved bronze. India is proud of your achievement. Here’s to many more victories!”
