IGIA Issues Advisory For Iran, Iraq Travellers As Tensions Rise In Middle East

IGIA On Israel-Iran Tensions: The Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) on Friday advised passengers flying to Iran and Iraq to confirm their flight status with respective airlines, amid escalating conflict between Israel and Iran that has cast uncertainty over airspace in the region.

“Delhi operations are running smoothly. However, due to the evolving airspace conditions over Iran, Iraq and the neighbouring region, some flight schedules have impacted,” the IGIA advisory noted.

The advisory further advised passengers to contact their respective airlines for the latest flight updates and strongly urged everyone to rely only on official sources for accurate and current information.

Embassy issues safety advisory

Meanwhile, the Indian Embassy in Tel Aviv issued a safety advisory for Indian citizens in Israel, urging them to stay alert, avoid unnecessary movement, and follow local safety protocols.

Posting on social media platform, the embassy highlighted the need for caution due to the prevailing security situation.

Taking to X, the Embassy posted, “In view of the prevailing situation in the region, all Indian nationals in Israel are advised to stay vigilant and adhere to the safety protocols as advised by the Israeli authorities and home front command (oref.org.il/eng). Please exercise caution, avoid unnecessary travel within the country and stay close to safety shelters.”

The Embassy urged citizens to monitor official updates through official government channels and stay in contact with the Embassy during emergencies.

The advisories follow Israel’s declaration of a special state of emergency after it launched a ‘pre-emptive strike’ on Iran, citing growing threats from Tehran’s nuclear programme.

Reports of explosions emerged in Tehran, and Israel tightened security across the country.

In a national broadcast, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed the military action.

“This operation will continue as long as it takes to complete the task of fending off the threat of annihilation against us,” he stated, calling it a ‘targeted military operation’.
