A profound wave of sorrow and fury rushed across the school where the body of the victim was kept in the wake of a heartbreaking occurrence involving the rape and strangulation of a 5-year-old child near Kochi.

Death penalty to the accused

Numerous individuals paid their final respects to the girl while also calling for the culprits to face harsh punishment. Some people even demanded the death penalty for the heinous crime. Kerala Police issued an apology for the horrific occurrence in a tweet on Saturday. “Sorry daughter,” they wrote.

“Our attempts to bring back her and deliver her to her parents failed. The message in Malayalam stated that the suspect who kidnapped the child has been detained. Around 11 a.m. on Sunday, the crowd, which was visibly saddened, attended the girl’s funeral in the public cemetery.

Sentiments ran high as the 5 year old was put to rest

As the final rites were carried out and the coffin was lowered into the grave, several people in the crowd could be seen sobbing, according to images broadcast on television.

A migrant worker from Bihar who lived in the same building as the girl’s family, who were also from the same state, stole the girl on Friday, violently raped her, and then killed her. On Saturday, her body was discovered in a sack abandoned in a swampy area behind a small market in the adjacent Aluva neighborhood. It was discovered covered in trash and plastic. According to authorities, the accused was taken into custody on Friday but was too drunk to be questioned.

Mothers of the victim’s friends and close friends, as well as other ladies who were present at the school and the cemetery, sobbed and declared that putting the accused in jail and providing for him would not be just.

“He should be put to death the same way he put the child to death. Hand him over to the public if the administration is unable to handle it, they advised.

It was a “shocking and heart-wrenching” encounter, according to another woman.
“It’s intolerable. Hearing about this occurrence kept me from getting a good night’s sleep. More stricter laws are required. This shouldn’t occur once more, she remarked.
Anwar Sadath, a Congress lawmaker, stated that he wants the government and police to make sure that the culprit receives the death penalty as the ultimate punishment.

“That’s what I want as a father and a representative of the people. I urged the Kerala Chief Minister yesterday that he not view it as an isolated event and put an end to the
Minister urged him Monday to stop treating it like a one-off and to end the myth that “Post this tragedy, parents worldwide are afraid. Therefore, in order to stop a repeat of similar tragedies, the government and the police must exercise greater vigilance.

The MLA broke down in tears while addressing to reporters, saying that nobody had even imagined the girl would be slain in such a way and that everyone, including him, had hoped she would be saved alive. There should be a system in place to identify any criminal elements among the migrant workers and the reported drug usage by some of them, according to K Surendran, president of the BJP’s Kerala unit.
