Honeymoon over! : No more FCRA license for Rajiv Gandhi Foundation !

The FCRA license of Rajiv Gandhi Foundation had to face the wrath of Home Ministry which now cancelled the license of the charitable trust.

The investigation carried out by an inter-ministerial committee, has come with this prompt action. The committee formed in 2020 by the Ministry of Home Affairs was the result of the BJP’s allegation that RGF was receiving funds from China.

As per the accusation, the embassy of the People’s Republic of China was the instrumental medium for the high level funding. Henceforth, the 2020 Inquiry into this Illegal Foreign Funding followed by the cancelation of Rajiv Gandhi Foundation’s FCRA License by the Centre.

Now as per the government orders Rajiv Gandhi Charitable Trust and Rajiv Gandhi Foundation will not be able to be funded by any foreign entities.

Earlier BJP Chief JP Nadda had alleged two years ago that the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation has been receiving donations continuously from the Chinese embassy. This was being done from the ‘tax haven’ of Luxembourg and NGOs with commercial interests  between 2005 and 2009.
