Dr Sanjay Kumar Nishad, National President of the Nishad Party and Cabinet Minister for Fisheries in the Uttar Pradesh Government, met Union Home and Cooperative Minister Amit Shah at his residence today.
The meeting centered around key issues concerning the Nishad community and upcoming political strategies.
After the meeting, Dr Nishad described Amit Shah as a guardian of the Nishad Party and the fishermen community.
“He has always shown respect and concern for our people,” Dr Nishad said. “Today’s meeting was a continuation of that relationship.”
Dr Nishad raised the long-pending issue of Scheduled Caste reservation certificates for the fishermen community.
He recalled that during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the Nishad Party formed an alliance with the BJP under Amit Shah’s leadership.
One of the promises made during that time was to secure economic, educational, political, and social rights for all sub-castes of the fishermen, including Majhwar and Turaiah communities.
Despite delays due to other national priorities, Dr Nishad expressed confidence that the BJP leadership, especially PM Modi and Amit Shah, would resolve this long-pending demand.
Amit Shah reportedly assured him that detailed discussions based on official documentation would take place soon.
Dr Nishad also urged the Home Minister to ensure the adjustment of Nishad Party workers into government roles.
While acknowledging recent appointments of party members to state commissions, he emphasized that many key workers are still awaiting opportunities.
Amit Shah responded positively and expressed willingness to address the matter.
Discussing the upcoming elections in Uttar Pradesh, Dr Nishad informed Shah that the Nishad Party would contest all seats allocated to it using its party symbol.
He reaffirmed the party’s commitment to the NDA alliance while maintaining its distinct identity on the ground.
