HM Shah Cancels Narayanpur Visit Due To Weather; Chairs Security Meetings In Raipur

Union Home Minister Amit Shah cancelled his scheduled visit to Narayanpur district in Chhattisgarh on Monday due to forecasts of heavy rainfall, according to official sources.

The minister was expected to meet members of the Abhujhmadiya tribe in Irakbhatti village, but inclement weather forced a change in plans.

Instead of travelling to Narayanpur, Shah remained in Raipur, where he chaired critical meetings with top commanders of central and state security forces.

The review focused on intensifying anti-Maoist operations, especially during the monsoon season, traditionally considered a lull in insurgent activity.

During the meeting, Shah reiterated the Centre’s firm deadline to eliminate Maoism by 31 March 2026.

“The valour shown by our security forces assures me that we will achieve this goal,” he said on Sunday.

He delivered a sharp message to Maoist insurgents: “If you do not surrender, we will not let you sleep during the monsoon.”

He ruled out any negotiations and urged militants to join the mainstream.

Inter-state coordination emphasised

The Union Minister also convened an inter-state security coordination meeting with senior police officials from Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Odisha.

The emphasis was on coordinated operations, intelligence sharing, and sustained pressure on Maoist hideouts during the rainy season.

Shah praised the current leadership in Chhattisgarh, crediting Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma for energising the anti-Maoist campaign over the past 18 months.

He noted that strong inter-state collaboration had proven essential in weakening left-wing extremism.

In a major development, Shah laid the foundation stones for the National Forensic Science University (NFSU) campus and a Central Forensic Science Laboratory in Nava Raipur.

Spread across 40 acres and costing ₹400 crore, the NFSU campus aims to bolster forensic and criminal investigation capabilities in central India.

“Graduating from NFSU will be akin to a job guarantee,” he remarked, underscoring the government’s push for scientific excellence in criminal justice.

Empowering conflict-affected youth

The Home Minister also interacted with children from Maoist-affected regions, including students from Bijapur’s Usur and Gangalore blocks.

He highlighted the transformative initiatives that are replacing guns with books and giving young people new opportunities.

“Those innocent children once given guns by Maoists are now being empowered with books,” he posted on X, applauding efforts to integrate tribal youth into the national mainstream.

Amit Shah’s visit and announcements align with the government’s strategy to combine strong security measures with developmental outreach in left-wing extremism-affected areas.

As operations continue, the focus remains on achieving lasting peace and prosperity in Chhattisgarh and beyond.
