HM Amit Shah To Unveil Major Development Projects In Assam, Join Mising Cultural Festival

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to undertake a packed schedule in Assam on Friday. He arrived in Dibrugarh late on Thursday under strict security arrangements.

Senior state officials received him at the airport. Leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party were also present before he proceeded to his place of stay.

The Home Minister will begin his day by inaugurating the second complex of the Assam Legislative Assembly in Dibrugarh. A major component of the project is the newly constructed MLA Hostel, known as the Vidhayak Bhavan, which has been designed to provide improved residential and working facilities for legislators.

The new complex is expected to significantly strengthen the state’s legislative infrastructure.

As part of his morning engagements, HM Shah will also lay the foundation stone of the Wildlife Health and Research Institute. Officials said the proposed institute will focus on wildlife disease management, veterinary services and scientific research.

The initiative is expected to enhance Assam’s conservation capabilities, particularly given the state’s rich biodiversity and sensitive ecosystems.

New Stadium to Encourage Sporting Talent

The Union Home Minister will further inaugurate the Khanikar Stadium in Dibrugarh. Equipped with modern amenities, the stadium is expected to promote sports culture and provide better opportunities for young athletes, especially in Upper Assam.

Later in the day, HM Shah will travel to Dhemaji district to attend the 10th Mising Cultural Festival at Kareng Chapori.

The festival is an important cultural event for the Mising community, showcasing traditional music, dance and customs. His participation is expected to highlight the Centre’s focus on preserving and promoting the cultural diversity of the Northeast.

In the evening, the Home Minister will depart Dibrugarh for Guwahati. After arriving in the state capital, he is scheduled to visit the BJP’s state headquarters to meet party office-bearers and interact with workers.

The discussions are likely to focus on organisational matters and future political strategy.

Overall, HM Shah’s visit reflects a balanced focus on governance, development, cultural outreach and political engagement. It underscores the Centre’s continued attention to Assam and the wider Northeast region.
