HM Amit Shah Applauds PM Modi On Being Conferred Oman’s Highest Civilian Honour

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah on Thursday extended his congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on being conferred Oman’s highest civilian honour, ‘The First Class of the Order of Oman’.

According to HM Shah, the prestigious award underlines PM Modi’s statesmanship and his acceptance as a respected global leader.

HM Amit Shah posted on X, “Oman’s highest civilian honor, ‘The First Class of the Order of Oman’, being conferred on PM Shri @narendramodi Ji is a grand endorsement of his statesmanship and his acceptance as a global leader. The back-to-back honors to our Prime Minister Modi Ji attest to the power of 140 crore Indians and the emergence of India as a transformed nation under his leadership.”

Significantly, the honour from Oman marks the 29th international civilian award received by Prime Minister Modi from a foreign nation. Such consistent recognition highlights his expanding influence and standing in global affairs.

Earlier this week, Ethiopian authorities conferred Prime Minister Modi with Ethiopia’s highest civilian award, the ‘Great Honour Nishan of Ethiopia’.

Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed presented the award during a special ceremony at the Addis International Convention Centre.

Recognising his role in strengthening bilateral relations, Ethiopian authorities honoured PM Modi for his visionary leadership as a global statesman.

Expressing appreciation, Prime Minister Modi thanked Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and the people of Ethiopia for the honour.

Expanding India–Oman Engagement

Earlier on Thursday, Prime Minister Modi met Oman’s Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik in Muscat to discuss ways to further strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries.

During the meeting, both leaders explored opportunities to deepen cooperation across multiple sectors.

Subsequently, the leaders witnessed the exchange of several key Memoranda of Understanding and agreements.

Both sides welcomed the signing of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), describing it as a milestone in bilateral relations.

Alongside economic ties, discussions also covered regional and global issues of mutual interest, reflecting the maturity of the India–Oman relationship.

The high-level meeting at the Al Baraka Palace in Muscat saw the presence of External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and other senior officials.

Their participation highlighted the importance India places on strengthening its strategic partnership with Oman.

Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal posted on X, “Celebrating 70 years of India-Oman Diplomatic ties : An all-encompassing relationship, united by maritime heritage and shared destiny!” PM @narendramodi met today His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik in Muscat, Oman. Both leaders noted that the completion of 70 years of diplomatic relations between India – Oman is a landmark in the bilateral partnership. They explored ways to further add greater depth to the India-Oman Strategic Partnership.”

Overall, Prime Minister Modi’s latest honour and diplomatic engagements underline India’s growing global influence and its strengthening international relationships.
