Himanta Biswa Sarma Cannot Intimidate Me: Rahul Gandhi Challenges Assam CM

Rahul Gandhi dares Assam CM to file as many cases against him as they can, he will not be intimidated. The remark came after Guwahati police acted on the direction of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and filed a suo motu case against Rahul Gandhi in addition to other congress leaders for allegedly provoking the crowd.

Rahul Gandhi Slams Assam CM

As reported by PTI, while addressing the public during the 7th day of ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ in Barpeta district, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi slammed CM Himanta Biswa Sarna and labelled him as the “most corrupt CM” of the country, asserting that he has series of allegations related to land and areca nut.

According to the reports, Rahul Gandhi said, “I don’t know how Himanta Biswa Sarma got the idea that he can intimidate me by filing cases. File as many cases as you can. File 25 more cases, you can’t intimidate me. BJP-RSS can’t intimidate me”.

Police File Suo Motu Against Rahul Gandhi

Speaking of, the police filed a suo motu FIR against Gandhi and other leaders after Assam’s Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma shared a post on X. After a clash erupted between Congress workers and Assam police, Assam CM condemned the situation on the micro-blogging platform and articulated, “These actions are not in line with Assamese culture. We are a peaceful state, and such ‘Naxalite tactics’ are completely foreign to our culture. I have instructed @DGPAssamPolice to file a case against your leader @RahulGandhi for provoking the crowd, using the footage you posted as evidence,” Sarma wrote on X.”

Cause of the clash

During the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, Around 5,000 Congress workers, led by Rahul Gandhi, were prevented from attempting to enter Guwahati. Consequently, the party workers broke police barriers, leading to a lathi charge by the police to disperse the crowd.
