Himachal Pradesh CM Asserts: No Acceptance of Brother Vikramaditya Singh’s Resignation

Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the chief minister of Himachal Pradesh, asserted on Wednesday that the BJP’s plot to overthrow the government was foiled and that he had managed to avert the immediate threat to the government posed by a few rebel MLAs. According to Sukhu, there is no way to accept the resignation of the late Virbhadra Singh’s son and Himachal Pradesh minister Vikramaditya Singh. Vikramaditya Singh is like his younger brother, according to Sukhu, and all of his complaints will be taken care of.

Himachal Pradesh crisis: Here’s what happened in the last 24 hours

1. On Tuesday, six Congress MLAs cast a cross-vote in the Rajya Sabha election. They spent Tuesday night at a hotel in Haryana and came back to Shimla on Wednesday for the budget session.

2. The Congress government in Himachal Pradesh faced a challenge as a result of the cross-voting, as the party’s majority in the Assembly was lost due to the MLA rebellion.

3. To make matters worse, on Wednesday, Vikramaditya Singh announced his resignation from Sukhu’s cabinet, blaming the government for its disrespect towards his late father.

4. Vikramaditya Singh claimed that although Congress won the 2022 election in his father’s name, they were unable to locate enough space to erect Virbhadra Singh’s statue.

5. After the Speaker suspended fifteen MLAs for allegedly interfering with the proceedings, the assembly session broke out in chaos. They were forced to leave the Assembly after they refused to leave the house.

6. There were many rumors that Sukhu had submitted his resignation, but Sukhu refuted them by saying he had neither resigned nor been asked to do so.

7. Bhupesh Baghel, DK Shivakumar, and Bhupinder Hooda were sent to Shimla by the Congress as observers. They will deliver a report to President Mallikarjun Kharge and address all party MLAs.

8. Citing the institution as superior to individuals, Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh stated that the party will not hesitate to make tough decisions when necessary. According to Jairam Ramesh, the party is not ignoring the regrettable cross-voting.

9. The hearing to disqualify the six MLAs who cast multiple votes in the Rajya Sabha election, which resulted in Abhishek Manu Singhvi’s defeat, is currently underway.

10. According to Sukhu, one of the MLAs who abstained even expressed regret to him. “I won’t disclose his name…but the conspiracy to topple the govt failed,” said Sukhu.
