Hemesh Singh, co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Unacademy, announced on Saturday that he would transition into an advisory role after nearly a decade of building the company with Gaurav Munjal and Roman Saini. Singh shared the news on social media, expressing gratitude for the journey and the impact they’ve made in revolutionizing the Test Prep Industry.
Unacademy’s CEO, Gaurav Munjal, reminisced about their journey, highlighting their partnership that began 11 years ago while building Flatchat. He expressed appreciation for Singh’s role and noted that Unacademy will miss him.
In FY23, Unacademy witnessed significant growth, with operating revenue reaching Rs 907 crore compared to Rs 719 crore in FY22. Additionally, the platform managed to reduce its losses to Rs 1,678 crore from Rs 2,847 crore in the previous fiscal year.
Munjal mentioned that the company successfully decreased cash burn by 60% and currently holds cash reserves that can sustain operations for more than four years.
Founded in 2015 by Munjal, Singh, and Saini, Unacademy has established itself as a leading player in the edtech sector, providing valuable educational resources to learners across India.
