Hemant Soren To Get Arrested? Here’s Who Might Become Next Jharkhand CM

The Enforcement Directorate officials are currently interrogating Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren at his residence over the money laundering probe linked to an alleged land scam. Heavy security has been deployed around the premises and chances are that he might get arrested after the inquest. In Ranchi, prohibitory orders under Section 144 have been imposed. Additionally, a special three-member team has been formed to oversee the law and order situation in the city.

A meeting was held before the questioning where Soren met with leaders from JMM and Congress on Tuesday. Despite not being an MLA, Hemant Soren’s wife Kalpana attended the meetings of the lawmakers. As per the reports, if Heman Soren gets apprehended, Kalpana Soren might become the next chief minister. Champai Soren, who’s the transport minister, is the second choice. JMM members signed a paper supporting Kalpana Soren to take over as the chief minister.

During the meeting, Hemant Soren reportedly got signatures from JMM members on two blank papers. As per the speculations, these could be letters of support for two potential candidates – Kalpana Soren and Champai Soren – just in case he gets arrested.

The interrogation comes two days after the ED (Enforcement Directorate) visited Soren’s place in Delhi, and confiscated two cars and some money. The ED is looking into a big scheme where people illegally changed who owns land in Jharkhand. They’ve already arrested 14 people, including a government officer and someone from the land department. The whole thing is about fake documents and tricking the system to grab lots of valuable land.
