Heavy Security At Tirupparankundram Temple Ahead Of PM Modi’s Visit

Security has been tightened at the historic Tirupparankundram Subramanya Swamy Temple ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit on Sunday. The temple complex and surrounding areas have been placed under heightened protection to ensure an orderly programme.

Multiple layers of security have been put in place around the shrine. Mobile signal jammers have been installed in the vicinity to prevent unauthorised communication during the Prime Minister’s visit.

Devotees will be allowed entry only after strict screening.

The premises underwent a thorough security sweep on Saturday. Teams checked surveillance systems, access points and crowd management arrangements as part of final preparations.

Vigilance has been stepped up following earlier tensions during the Karthigai Deepam festival, when disputes emerged over the lighting of lamps on a nearby hill.

With significant public and political attention expected, precautionary measures have been reinforced across the region.

Travel Schedule

Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to arrive in Chennai around 9 PM on Saturday after completing engagements in Gujarat and Rajasthan. On Sunday morning, he will travel to Puducherry to lay the foundation stone for development projects worth ₹2,700 crore.

Later in the afternoon, at around 3 PM, he will proceed to Madurai to inaugurate and launch infrastructure projects valued at ₹4,400 crore. At approximately 4 PM, he will offer prayers at the Tirupparankundram Subramanya Swamy Temple.

As part of the visit, the Prime Minister will further inaugurate the newly constructed four-lane highways connecting Marakkanam with Puducherry and Paramakudi with Ramanathapuram.

Under the Amrit Bharat scheme, he will dedicate eight redeveloped railway stations in Tamil Nadu to the nation. These include Morappur, Bommidi, Srivilliputhur, Cholavandan, Manapparai, Pollachi Junction, Karaikudi Junction and Tiruvarur Junction.

He will also inaugurate several Central and Union Territory projects in Puducherry and Karaikal.

In addition, three new All India Radio FM relay transmitters will be launched in Kumbakonam, Yercaud and Vellore to strengthen public broadcasting.

The visit combines major development initiatives with a significant religious engagement, drawing wide attention across Tamil Nadu and neighbouring regions.
