Haryana Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Pankaj Agarwal announced on Sunday that 67.90% of eligible voters participated in the state’s 15th Assembly elections held on October 5. The counting of ballots is scheduled for Tuesday.
Sirsa district reported the highest voter turnout at 75.36%, while Faridabad recorded the lowest at 56.49%. Among the constituencies, Ellenabad led with 80.61% turnout, and Badkhal had the lowest at 48.27%.
Agarwal provided further details, noting that Ambala had a turnout of 67.62%, Panchkula 65.23%, and Yamunanagar 74.20%. Other districts included Kurukshetra at 69.59%, Kaithal at 72.36%, and Karnal at 65.67%.
The elections took place peacefully across the state, with voting conducted from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. A total of 20,632 polling stations were set up, and out of 2,03,54,350 registered voters, 1,38,19,776 cast their ballots. This included 74,28,124 men, 63,91,534 women, and 118 third-gender voters.
Agarwal highlighted the meticulous preparations made to ensure smooth polling. Webcasting was arranged at polling stations to monitor the process continuously, in accordance with Election Commission of India (ECI) guidelines. Additionally, 97 central observers were deployed for field monitoring.
To maintain law and order, 225 companies of Central Armed Police Forces were stationed throughout the state. Haryana Police implemented strict security measures, deploying 29,462 police personnel, 21,196 Home Guard jawans, and 10,403 Special Police Officers (SPOs) to facilitate free and fair elections.
