Clashes between two communities erupted in Haryana’s Nuh district during a Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) rally on Monday subsequently resulting in several people being wounded. The situation in the entire area became dire, consequent to stone-pelting incidents during the ‘Shobha Yatra.’ Moreover, the clashes led to the setting of several vehicles ablaze and the pelting of stones at the officials.
The Nuh district administration’s top officials are actively engaged in getting the situation under control, and additional police forces have been called upon from neighbouring districts Palwal, Faridabad, and Rewari urgently.
Shops around Tiranga Park closed their doors as a response to the unrest, and as tensions escalated, shops across Nuh City, including the busy main markets like Naya Bazar, Gali Bazar, and Hodal Bypass, also halted their businesses.
The VHP had announced earlier that the Brajmandal (Mewat) Jalabhishek Yatra, organized by Vishva Hindu Parishad’s Yuva Shakti Bajrang Dal, initiated from Nalhad Mahadev Temple at 10:00 am will conclude at Shringar Temple, Punhana.

Tensions flared up when Monu Manesar, a self-proclaimed protector of cows and a suspected murderer in the Nasir-Junaid murder case, appeared, provoking resentment among members of the community, as per the reports. Monu Manesar had been trying to escape the authorities for the past five months. However, a video that surfaced earlier in the day indicated his presence in the yatra, leading the police from Rajasthan’s Bharatpur to act swiftly and send officials to Nuh for his incarceration.
According to the reports, the stone-pelting incident took place in the vicinity of a temple, at a chowk located about 2 km from there, and VHP workers retaliated against the attackers with stones. The streets were covered in black smoke during the clashes.
