Prayagraj: Panic gripped a densely populated colony after a hand grenade was found during the cleaning of a drain. The laborers brought it with them to the Kabadi Basti. Receiving information, police rushed to the spot and evacuated the nearby houses. The bomb disposal squad was called. After this, the suspicious object was brought to the parade ground and defused using a demolition set. Only then did people heave a sigh of relief.
According to the police, on Thursday, while cleaning the drain near the Prayag Ghat railway line, sanitation worker Chandan Kumar found a hand grenade. Chandan Kumar brought it to his home in the slum next to the cholera hospital. When some people informed him that it was a hand grenade, he immediately informed the police. Georgetown police immediately informed the control room and the BDS team. The nearby houses were evacuated.
