Gujarat To Light Over 88 Lakh Lamps Across 18,500 Locations For PM Modi’s Birthday

Gujarat will light more than 88 lakh lamps at over 18,500 locations on Thursday, September 17, as part of the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ marking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 76th birthday. State minister and government spokesperson Jitu Vaghani announced the programme on Wednesday.

The ‘Aashirwad No Divdo’ programme will begin with bhajan sandhya, satsang and cultural performances from 6 pm, followed by lamp-lighting at 7 PM alongside evening aartis at temples across the state.

The organisers will hold the events at temples, lakes, rivers, public squares, town halls, gardens, APMCs and other community locations.

Across Gujarat’s 17 municipal corporations, organisers have planned 17 major city-level programmes, which are expected to draw around 2.76 lakh people.

They will also organise another 17 programmes, including Bhajan Sandhya, with an expected attendance of nearly 4.75 lakh participants. Local teams will conduct events at 12,481 locations across 287 municipal corporation wards.

In municipality areas, organisers have planned 152 major programmes, 152 additional programmes and 5,740 local events. Overall, the arrangements include 169 major programmes, 169 additional programmes and 18,508 local-level events across municipal corporations and municipalities.

Senior political leaders will attend programmes at key locations. Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel will join the main programme at Kankaria Lake in Ahmedabad.

Assembly Speaker Shankar Chaudhary and Gujarat BJP president Jagdish Vishwakarma will attend the programme at Ambaji. Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi will be present at Olpad in Surat, while Union Minister CR Paatil will attend the event at Navdi Ovara.

Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya will attend the Hirasar programme in Rajkot.

The month-long campaign will help beneficiaries access Ayushman Bharat, food grain distribution and farmer welfare schemes.
