Gujarat Fire: Blaze At Bilimora Plastic Shop Destroys Goods Worth Up To Rs 10 Lakh

A massive fire broke out at a plastic wholesale shop in Bilimora town of Gujarat’s Navsari district late Friday night, destroying goods worth an estimated Rs 8 lakh to Rs 10 lakh. No casualties or injuries were reported.

The fire erupted at a shop opposite the Bilimora Industrial Training Institute (ITI).

Preliminary reports suggest that firecrackers may have triggered the blaze. Flames reportedly started in materials stored behind the shop before spreading rapidly to plastic goods inside.

Thick smoke and flames triggered panic among local residents and nearby shopkeepers, who initially tried to douse the fire using extinguishers and water.

The large stock of plastic materials made it difficult to contain the blaze.

The Bilimora Municipality Fire Brigade rushed to the spot after receiving information and launched firefighting operations.

Officials further sought assistance from the Gandevi Municipality Fire Department due to the intensity of the fire.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control in nearly an hour, preventing it from spreading to nearby shops.

The shop owner estimated losses at Rs 8-10 lakh. Officials suspect firecrackers triggered the fire, but an investigation will confirm the cause.

In a separate incident, a fire engulfed a mobile accessories shop and all floors of a four-storey building in Delhi’s Gaffar Market early Friday. Around 20-25 fire tenders tackled the blaze.

According to Delhi Police, Karol Bagh Police Station received a PCR call about the fire in Chain Wali Gali at 01:28 AM.

The police station’s night staff and the Station House Officer (SHO) rushed to the spot and found the fire at Shop No 13/21 in Puri Plaza, Gaffar Market.

The fire caused significant property damage, but authorities reported no casualties or injuries.
