On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi began a visit to Himachal Pradesh and Punjab to personally assess the impact of recent floods and landslides, emphasising that his government stands firmly with those affected by the natural disasters.
Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “Leaving for Himachal Pradesh and Punjab to review the situation in the wake of floods and landslides. The Government of India stands shoulder to shoulder with those affected in this tragic hour.”
During the visit, the Prime Minister will review ongoing relief and rehabilitation operations in the two states, following severe monsoon-triggered floods and landslides that caused widespread damage.
PM Modi is likely to arrive in Kangra, Himachal Pradesh, around 1:30 PM, where he will hold a high-level meeting with state officials to evaluate the ground situation.
He will meet and interact with survivors of the disaster, as well as members of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and Aapda Mitra volunteers engaged in relief work.
One of the survivors, 11-month-old Neetika, lost her family in a flash flood caused by a cloudburst in Talwara village, Gohar sub-division of Mandi district, on the night of June 30–July 1.
Therefore, she has been declared a ‘child of the state’, with full government support promised for her care, education, and future.

Following his engagements in Himachal, PM Modi will fly over flood-affected areas in Punjab around 3 PM to assess the damage from the air.
He will likely reach Gurdaspur by 4:15 PM, where he will meet senior officials, hold a review meeting, and interact with survivors along with NDRF, SDRF, and Aapda Mitra personnel.
