Government Launches Interactive Tool To Showcase Savings Under Next-Gen GST

The Indian government has rolled out a new digital initiative to help citizens understand how much they can save under the upcoming Goods and Services Tax (GST) reforms.

Through a tweet from its official MyGovIndia handle, the government invited people to ‘cart their picks’ and instantly calculate their savings under the next-generation GST system.

The tweet highlights the introduction of an interactive feature allowing consumers to scan a QR code or visit a dedicated website to explore their potential savings.

The initiative comes as part of the wider GST 2.0 rollout. It aims to make essential goods and services more affordable while simplifying the tax structure.

Interactive Experience for Citizens

The tweet encourages users to engage directly with the new platform, “Next-Gen GST is here! Wondering how much you can save? Add your picks to the cart and see the difference yourself. Scan the QR or visit savingswithgst.in to explore now!”

By scanning the QR code or visiting savingswithgst.in, citizens can input items they typically purchase and immediately view estimated cost differences under the reformed GST slabs.

This interactive approach reflects the government’s efforts to make the impact of GST reforms more transparent and relatable for households. It particularly aims to benefit middle- and lower-income groups, who are expected to gain the most from lower rates on essential items.

The launch of this tool coincides with the government’s broader efforts to publicise GST 2.0. The new system replaces the earlier four-tier tax structure with a simpler two-slab system.

Officials believe this new framework will reduce compliance burdens for businesses and stimulate consumption-led economic growth.

The MyGovIndia platform is known for its citizen-centric communication. It has positioned this campaign as a way to encourage public engagement with fiscal reforms.

The government aims to build greater trust in the reform process. It also seeks to demonstrate its impact at the household level by enabling people to see real-time savings.

The tweet urges citizens to scan the QR code or visit the official website to explore their savings under the new GST regime.
