Gaurav Gogoi Demands Government Reveal Truth On Operation Sindoor

Addressing reporters in New Delhi on Monday, Gogoi asserted that the people of India deserved to know the facts. He stressed that the government must come clean and provide full disclosure on Operation Sindoor.

The Congress has prepared a list of its speakers and will submit it to the Speaker’s Office ahead of the session to ensure a structured participation in the debate.

Gogoi’s comments reflect the growing anticipation over the Centre’s explanation regarding the military action after the Pahalgam terror attack.

When questioned about senior Congress leader P Chidambaram’s statement claiming ‘no proof’ of Pakistani involvement, Gogoi maintained that Chidambaram would clarify his remarks personally.

He also highlighted a petition signed by several Congress MPs concerning Justice Verma and allegations linked to former Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar, stating that the issue needed serious deliberation and a clear government stance.

Debate Framework

The discussion in the Lok Sabha forms part of a 16-hour debate spanning both Houses of Parliament.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will lead the session, followed by interventions from Home Minister Amit Shah, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, and BJP leaders Anurag Thakur and Nishikant Dubey.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the Lok Sabha during the debate and speak in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday to respond to the Opposition’s demand for direct answers.

His speech may also touch upon US President Donald Trump’s claim that he mediated a ceasefire between India and Pakistan after the Pahalgam incident.

The INDIA bloc is preparing to press the government for accountability, with Samajwadi Party leaders Akhilesh Yadav and MP Rajeev Rai set to deliver pointed interventions.

The Lok Sabha has allocated 30 minutes to the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), during which MPs Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu and GM Harish Balayogi will present their views.

Gogoi emphasised that the Congress aimed to use its time to demand truth and ensure the debate addressed the nation’s concerns.

Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju confirmed that Operation Sindoor would be the primary focus of Monday’s proceedings. He stated that all parties had been informed, and other matters, including the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Bihar, would follow later. Rijiju underlined that the government’s immediate priority was India’s response to terrorism and national security.

The debate is set to define the session, testing the government’s transparency and the Opposition’s ability to hold it accountable. Gogoi’s call for truth underscores the political and national importance of Operation Sindoor in shaping India’s security narrative.
