Gangetic Dolphin – Aquatic Animal Of Uttar Pradesh : Yogi Adityanath

Apart from being an able administrator Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has proved to be an animal lover as well. This became evident when he declared that Dolphins found in river Ganges (or Ganga) is an aquatic animal of Uttar Pradesh and that they should be treated with care.

He emphasized the need of dealing sternly with those people who have the habit of disturbing the animal species and even kill those hapless species. “Proper training should be given as to how to deal with animals,” he said.  “Employment opportunities can be generated in the process,” he added.

He has given clear instructions that be it tourists or local residents usage of plastics won’t be allowed as it causes tremendous damage to the nature.

Gangetic Dolphins are found in river  Ganga, Yamuna, Chambal, Ghaghra, Rapti, and Gerua.  The estimated population of Gangetic dolphins in the state is around 2000. India is a country of floras and faunas. Animals with so many diversities are found throughout the nation. Like you have Rhinos in Assam, Tigers in West Bengal and Lions in Gujarat. Ironically their enemies – the poachers also lies within the nation. It is now upto the forest department to ensure steps so that these animals can live in peace.
