Discussions Between PM Modi and Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina
The Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina, has arrived in Delhi to participate in the G20 Summit 2023, along with her daughter Saima Wazed. During the summit, there was a bilateral meeting between Prime Minister Modi and Sheikh Hasina, where they discussed various issues, including enhancing connectivity and strengthening relations in multiple areas.
This summit in Delhi marks the first official trip of Sheikh Hasina’s daughter alongside her, signifying the close relationship between neighboring countries India and Bangladesh. Analysts suggest that Saima Wazed’s presence holds significance in various aspects.
Previously, Saima Wazed attended the ASEAN Summit in Indonesia with Bangladesh’s President Mohammad Shahabuddin, where her candidacy for the regional director position of the WHO’s Southeast Asia Region was publicly announced.
Her presence in high-level international events is seen as an indication of her potentially playing a significant political role within the Awami League in Bangladesh. A senior official from Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that Saima Wazed will stay in Delhi during the G20 talks.
