Focus Must Turn To Unmasking Those Distorting Hindu Faith: Swami Avimukteshwaranand

Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati on Friday intensified his criticism of individuals and political groups he accused of masquerading as spiritual authorities.

He described them as architects of a large-scale deception aimed at misleading Hindus across the country.

Speaking to reporters in Varanasi, the senior monk said the controversy linked to the Prayagraj bathing ritual has concluded.

He asserted that public attention must now turn toward exposing those who misrepresent Hindu beliefs for personal or political gain.

He stated that the debate over the ritual bath, or snan, has run its course for now.

According to him, discussion on that subject can resume when the month of Magh returns. He said the immediate priority involves identifying and confronting what he termed ‘fake Hindus’.

The Swami alleged that those responsible for the deception include individuals and parties who project themselves as saints, yogis, spiritual guides, and wearers of saffron attire.

He said such portrayals mislead devotees and undermine the sanctity of Hindu traditions.

Focus Shifts To Accountability

Responding to questions about the apology demanded during the Prayagraj event, Swami Avimukteshwaranand said he had already clarified his position in writing before departing Prayag.

He added that he reiterated the facts during subsequent interactions with the media in Varanasi.

Swami Avimukteshwaranand said the issue should be taken up again at the appropriate time. He warned that prolonged discussion diverts attention from ongoing efforts to protect Gau Mata.

Swami framed this campaign as central to his religious and social commitments.

Elaborating on the concept of apology, the Swami stressed that genuine remorse requires directly seeking forgiveness from those who suffered harm.

He said symbolic gestures or assurances cannot replace accountability.

Swami Avimukteshwaranand revealed that representatives offered inducements, including a felicitation ceremony, floral showers, and the promise of formal operating procedures for future events involving the Shankaracharyas. He said he rejected these proposals outright.

The Swami maintained that his sole condition remained a sincere apology from those responsible for using force against sants, disciples, brahmacharis, women, elders, and devotees. He said that the condition remained unfulfilled.

Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati’s remarks signal a broader campaign that extends beyond ritual observance.

He aims to challenge what he views as systemic misrepresentation of spirituality and to restore credibility within religious leadership.
