Fear Grips Jamshedpur As Businessman’s Son Remains Missing For Fifth Day; Saryu Roy Seeks Amit Shah’s Intervention

A sense of fear has gripped Jamshedpur as the abduction of 24-year-old Kairav Gandhi, son of prominent businessman Devang Gandhi, enters its fifth day with no concrete breakthrough by the police.

The incident has not only shaken the city’s business community but has also raised serious questions about law and order in Jharkhand.

Amid growing concern, Jamshedpur West MLA Saryu Roy has appealed directly to Union Home Minister Amit Shah to step in. He believes the crime bears the hallmarks of a large inter-state gang that may be beyond the capacity of local police to dismantle.

MLA Roy has urged the immediate involvement of central agencies, stressing that the case is not just about ransom but about saving a young life.

Despite repeated claims of intensive action, the police have yet to trace the missing youth.

Late on Saturday night, three people were taken into custody on suspicion, but investigators have not been able to establish Kairav’s whereabouts. Multiple leads point to possible suspects, but the case remains unresolved.

To track down the kidnappers, the police have formed seven special teams that are operating across Jharkhand, Bihar, West Bengal, and Odisha.

CCTV footage from multiple locations is under police analysis, while investigators scrutinise call data records. Even so, the abductors continue to evade the authorities.

Shortly after the kidnapping, the family reportedly received a ransom call from an international number demanding Rs 5 crore.

This foreign link has further complicated the investigation and strengthened suspicions of an organised criminal network operating beyond state borders.

Political Heat Intensifies

The incident has triggered a sharp political reaction in the state.

Opposition leaders have accused the Hemant Soren-led government of failing to maintain public safety, arguing that if members of influential business families are not secure, ordinary citizens stand little chance.

Former chief minister and Leader of the Opposition Babulal Marandi has drawn parallels with the lawlessness of the 1990s, alleging that Jharkhand is witnessing kidnappings of the poor for trafficking and of the wealthy for ransom.

He also referred to another unresolved case involving a missing 12-year-old boy from Ormanjhi near Ranchi, which has remained unsolved for over two months.
