A heinous crime conducted by a man along with his son came to light where they raped his daughter-in-law and subsequently set her ablaze in UP’s Ballia. The police said on Friday that the perpetrators identified as Shankar Dayal Chaube and Anand Chaube have been apprehended for their sins.
The Circle Officer Mohammaed Usman said that they have incarcerated Shankar Dayal Chaube and his son Anand Chaube in connection with the dowry death of a 22-year-old wife of Anand Chaube. As per the complaint, the two accused along with their family members persistently harassed the victim over a dowry of Rs 50,000 in addition to a gold chain.
On June 25, the two accused drenched the victim with inflammable fire and set her ablaze, said the officials. The woman got severely injured and succumbed to the burns a week later. She also recorded a statement before a magistrate in the hospital before dying.

She accused her father-in-law of conducting the heinous act of raping her and then setting her on fire. After fighting for about a week, she succumbed to her burn injuries on July 3 at the hospital itself, said the officials.
The police have filed an FIR against the accused under appropriate sections of IPC at Bairiya Police Station. The matter is under investigation as the officials are digging deeper to find out more details of the incident.
