In a tragic turn of events, a platform constructed of wood and iron frame collapsed during a Mata Jagran at Delhiās renowned Kalkaji Mandir, resulting in the death of one person and injuries to 17 others. The incident occurred around midnight on Saturday, as reported by news agency ANI quoting the Delhi Police.
According to authorities, no permission had been granted for the event, although adequate staff had been deployed to ensure law and order. The gathering comprised approximately 1500-1600 individuals. A crime team promptly investigated the site, and it was determined that the condition of the remaining injured individuals is stable, with some having sustained fractures.
