Exercise Trishul Showcases India’s Unified Military Might Across Land, Sea And Air

In a powerful display of India’s integrated defence capabilities, the Indian Armed Forces concluded Exercise Trishul, a massive tri-service operation involving the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force.

The exercise, conducted from 3–7 November, spanned the Rajasthan deserts, the Gujarat coastline, and the North Arabian Sea, bringing together over 30,000 personnel, 40 Indian Air Force jets, and 25 naval platforms, including amphibious and submarine assets.

The large-scale drill comes just months after Operation Sindoor, which struck terror camps deep inside Pakistan. Defence officials stated that Exercise Trishul reaffirmed India’s readiness to conduct high-intensity joint operations under realistic war-like conditions.

Exercise Trishul focused on strengthening coordination between the three services and various security agencies, including the Indian Coast Guard, BSF, and central agencies. This emphasis on joint operations underscores India’s drive for Aatmanirbharta (self-reliance) and innovation in the defence sector.

Officials highlighted that the exercise incorporated electronic warfare, cyber and drone operations, counter-drone tactics, and advanced intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) missions. The drills tested tri-service air defence and joint fire coordination, ensuring seamless integration across land, air, and maritime domains.

Realistic Combat Scenarios in Harsh Terrains

In the Thar Desert, Southern Command formations conducted Exercises MaruJwala and Akhand Prahaar, simulating high-mobility and combined-arms operations under harsh battlefield conditions. Similarly, Exercise Brahma Shira was held in the Rann and Creek sector, featuring joint efforts from the Army, Navy, Coast Guard, and BSF to validate integrated warfighting capabilities with support from the civil administration.

Exercise Trishul also aligns with the Indian Army’s Decade of Transformation vision, built around five key pillars: Jointness and Integration, Force Restructuring, Modernisation, System Improvement, and Human Resource Skill Development.

By testing these principles in live scenarios, Exercise Trishul reaffirms India’s determination to modernise its defence forces and maintain strategic superiority in a rapidly evolving regional security environment.
