Exchange of Letters: Sonia Gandhi’s Inquiry And Pralhad Joshi’s Response On Special Parliament Session

Sonia Gandhi had written a letter to Prime Minister Modi seeking information about the special session of Parliament. Now, a response to Sonia’s letter has been given by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi. In the letter, he stated that it is unfortunate that she is attempting to politicize the functioning of our parliamentary institutions, where there is no need for unnecessary controversy. Joshi mentioned, “As you are aware, parliamentary sessions are regularly convened in accordance with the constitutional mandate under Article 85, which allows the President to summon each house of Parliament at such times and places as he deems fit.”

Pralhad Joshi wrote, “I would also like to say that our government is always prepared to discuss any issue. The issues you mentioned for discussion were already raised and discussed during the monsoon session when a vote of no confidence was proposed, and the government responded to them.” Joshi further added, “The agenda for the session will be broadcast in due course, as per established practice, and I would like to reiterate that in our parliamentary system, whether it is a government of any party, the agenda is never broadcast in advance when calling the session.”

Perhaps you are not aware of the traditions: Prahlad Joshi

Taking a dig at Sonia, Joshi wrote, “Perhaps you are not aware of the traditions. Discussions with political parties are never held before calling the session, nor are meetings convened. Before the President calls the session, there is a meeting of all parties.” He also expressed confidence that the dignity of Parliament will be maintained, and this platform will not be used for political disputes. It’s worth noting that prior to this, Congress leader Sonia Gandhi had written a letter to PM Modi on Wednesday seeking information about the special session of Parliament.
