INDIA Vs Bharat : A Timely Significant Shift in Nomenclature By Modi Government

Following the expression ‘President of Bharat’ on official G20 Summit invitations, speculations say,  month the government may opt for a resolution to seal the move during the 5 day special session of parliament this month only.

As per the Summit Booklet “Bharat is the official name of the country. It is mentioned in the Constitution along with the discussions of 1946-48.”

Preparing to host US President Joe Biden, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and other top world leaders, India may utilize the occasion to mark a significant shift in nomenclature on the international stage.

A document shared on PM Modi’s visit to Indonesia refers to him as the “Prime Minister of Bharat.” On September 9 & 10 during the G20 Summit the Indian officials’ identity cards are also going to say ‘Bharat – Official’.

The block links the government move to the formation of their political alliance. Kejriwal questions whether the ruling party would change the country’s name to ‘BJP’ in case the opposition alliance decides to call itself “Bharat”.

Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar is heard saying, no one is authorized to change the name of the country. “The ruling party seems too perturbed over our name – INDIA (bloc) related to the country,” says the NCP chief.

Welcoming the “Bharat” nomenclature the BJP says the term “In Article 1 of the Constitution the term Bharat says: “India, that is Bharat, shall be a Union of States.”

Terming the decision to use ‘Bharat’ as an statement against the colonial mindset, the BJP says “This should have happened earlier. It gives us great satisfaction. ‘Bharat’ is our introduction and we are proud of it. The President has given priority to ‘Bharat’

Two days ago the RSS supremo suggested that switching to Bharat the country should discard India. “We must start using the word Bharat and stop using India. Wherever you go in the world the name of our country Bharat will remain Bharat only. In spoken and written forms one must say Bharat,” opines RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat.
