Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday called for eradicating every remaining trace of Naxalism and ensuring a dignified life for its victims. He said the Modi government’s resolve to create a Naxal-free India had been realised, and the focus must now shift to healing the wounds left by left-wing extremism.
Addressing a ceremony for people affected by Naxalism in Chhattisgarh through video conferencing, Shah stressed that Bastar must once again emerge as a vibrant and thriving region. He said traditional tribal leaders had made significant contributions to this effort.
Amit Shah condemned Naxal violence, particularly improvised explosive device (IED) attacks that have left innocent people with disabilities. He described such acts, carried out to advance political objectives, as a grave violation of human rights.
He said the government was pursuing service initiatives following the campaign against Naxalism. The Seva Sankalp Abhiyan marks PM Modi’s 25 years in public service.
Shah said Bastar had remained deprived of basic services for five decades under Congress rule, but facilities were now reaching residents. The Niyad Nellanar scheme is extending basic infrastructure to remote communities.
He praised the Chhattisgarh government’s efforts to revive the region through the Bastar Olympics, Bastar Pandum, Niyad Nellanar and the CM Collective Bus Scheme.
The Chhattisgarh government, district administration, State Social Welfare Department, Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti, Bharatiya Jain Sanghatana and other organisations are supporting people with disabilities and victims of Naxalism.
Shah said assistance, including wheelchairs, tricycles, crutches, hearing aids, smart walking sticks and artificial limbs, could bring renewed hope to affected communities.
He reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to rehabilitation and said it would continue working with the Chhattisgarh government to support every person with a disability and every victim.
#WATCH | Speaking to Naxal-affected people and other Divyangs in Chhattisgarh, under Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, Union Home Minister Amit Shah says, “…It was a firm resolve by the Narendra Modi Govt that we would eliminate Naxalism from the entire country before 31.03.2026. I am happy that Naxalism has indeed been eliminated. But we cannot end the pain of 5 decades just by eliminating Naxalism. We will have to care for the wounds caused by Naxalism. We will have to make provisions for them to lead a life of dignity…”
