A 20-year-old female nursing student from Saifai Medical College’s body was discovered along the Etawah-Saifai road, authorities reported on Friday. Etawah Superintendent of Police Santosh Kumar Verma stated that the woman appeared to have been murdered, and her body was abandoned at the scene on Thursday evening. The officer noted an injury mark on her neck, and the body was sent for post-mortem examination.
The deceased was a third-year nursing student. When she failed to attend her class on Thursday afternoon, one of her classmates informed the warden, according to officials. Students from the institution staged a protest on campus, demanding swift action in response to the incident.
Police arrested two individuals, including the main suspect identified as Mahendra Batham, a 30-year-old married man. Authorities stated that Batham, a neighbor of Priya Mishra, the 20-year-old whose body was found dumped on the road around 15 km from the university, has been taken into custody. Mishra, a resident of Kudarkot in Auraiya district, was enrolled in an Auxiliary Nursing Midwifery (ANM) course at Saifai Medical College.
