Emmanuel Macron departs For Paris After Meeting PM Narendra Modi; Concludes Official India Visit

President Macron departed for Paris on Thursday after concluding a brief state visit to India.

PM Modi met him before the French leader left. The encounter followed intensive engagements at the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi.

PM Modi presided over the summit and welcomed global counterparts.

During the visit, both leaders discussed ways to broaden bilateral cooperation under the Horizon 2047 roadmap.

They reviewed defence ties, critical minerals, advanced technologies and shared strategies on climate action and health.

PM Modi and President Macron also explored deeper collaboration in the Indo-Pacific region.

The talks reaffirmed both capitals’ interest in a stable and secure maritime order.

The leaders jointly inaugurated the India–France Year of Innovation, a year-long programme to boost research, culture and industrial links.

The visit marked another milestone following PM Modi’s trip to France in February 2025.

Leaders stressed that the Strategic Partnership has matured and now aims for wider outcomes.

Officials noted progress on more than 20 deliverables under Horizon 2047.

They described the visit as giving a ‘big boost’ to cooperation in emerging technologies and responsible AI.

Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh accompanied the delegations and saw President Macron off at the airport.

He posted that the visit elevated ties to a Special Global Strategic Partnership and expanded cooperation across defence, technology, education and economic security.

The Ministry of External Affairs said the visit advanced joint efforts on AI for humanity, inclusive growth and sustainable development.

Officials emphasised that the engagements will translate into actionable programmes and bilateral initiatives.

Both sides pledged follow-up work on technical cooperation, joint research and industrial partnerships.

PM Modi reiterated India’s commitment to collaborate with France on innovation, capacity building and global governance.

The leaders left with a mutual resolve to deepen strategic ties and to implement the Horizon 2047 agenda.
