Prime Minister Narendra Modi encouraged Indians to confront difficulties with confidence, determination and sustained effort while speaking at Vijayadashami celebrations at the IP Extension Utsav Ground in East Delhi on Tuesday.
At the event organised by the Shri Ramlila Committee Indraprastha, he said Lord Ram’s life teaches people to recognise their strengths and overcome challenges through hard work.
He said, “No matter how big the crisis or how difficult the challenge, we must not sit back and depend on others. We must recognise our own strength, trust our resources, turn our resolve into strength and find solutions through our hard work.”
PM Modi said this approach remained relevant to India’s ambitions in the present day.
The Prime Minister urged citizens to apply these lessons while working towards economic advancement and a stronger, self-sufficient nation.
“Today, we must move forward with the same mantra. We have the goal of building a developed India and achieving self-reliance,” he stated.
He also called for vigilance against forces that threaten the country and underlined the importance of “Nagrik Devo Bhava”. He said public service must place poor and underprivileged people at the forefront.
Referring to India’s cultural heritage, PM Modi said many valuable artefacts had been taken out of the country and transported overseas. He highlighted the return of 650 idols to India over the preceding 12 years.
At the event, PM Modi participated in customary religious rituals ahead of the symbolic burning of Ravana’s effigy.
His address connected the significance of Dussehra with the broader goals of national self-reliance, social welfare and development, also drawing on the values associated with Lord Ram and the ideal of Ram Rajya.
