Dussehra 2026: PM Modi Likely To Attend Delhi’s IP Extension Event, Amit Shah To Visit Ludhiana

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to be present at the Dussehra celebrations in Delhi’s IP Extension on Tuesday, according to sources.

Organisers are making detailed arrangements to facilitate the anticipated visit and ensure that the programme proceeds smoothly.

Observed with devotion and enthusiasm throughout the country, Dussehra marks the triumph of good over evil.

A key feature of the festival is the ceremonial burning of effigies of Ravana.

PM Modi has attended major Dussehra programmes in the national capital on several occasions in the past.

Heavy rainfall forced the Prime Minister to cancel his scheduled visit to a Dussehra programme at Patparganj in East Delhi on October 2, 2025.

A year earlier, PM Modi joined President Droupadi Murmu at the annual Ramleela celebrations held at Parade Ground near the Red Fort.

The Shri Dharmik Leela Committee organised the programme in 2024.

PM Modi attended Ravana Dahan ceremonies conducted by the Shri Ramleela Society at Dwarka Sector 10 in 2023 and 2019.

On both occasions, the Prime Minister took part in traditional religious rituals, including puja and aarti for performers representing Lord Rama, Sita, Laxman and Hanuman.

In 2022, PM Modi travelled to Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh to participate in the Dussehra festivities, which coincided with a historic Deepotsav celebration.

Separately, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is due to attend a Ravana Dahan event in Ludhiana on Tuesday evening.

The programme will feature the burning of Ravana’s effigy as well as another effigy representing drug abuse.

The organisers aim to highlight the issue of substance abuse in Punjab through this additional ritual.
