Durga idol immersions in Bahraich were delayed for several hours following an incident that disrupted the process. Senior police officials intervened to restore calm, and the immersion eventually resumed.
The situation escalated as idols were stopped across Bahraich, with people raising slogans. The District Inspector General (DIG) and Additional Director General (ADG) S.K. Pratap Singh arrived to address the issue. After senior officials reassured the public, immersion ceremonies resumed peacefully.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath addressed the incident on social media, ensuring that those responsible for disrupting peace in Bahraich will face strict action. He directed the administration to guarantee safety and ensure that idol immersion continues without further delays.
