DMRC To Start Delhi Metro Services At 4 AM For International Yoga Day

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced that metro services will begin at 4 AM on Sunday, June 21, to support travel for participants attending International Yoga Day events across the National Capital Region.

In a post on X, DMRC encouraged commuters to begin their Yoga Day journey early and confirmed that trains will operate from 4 AM across all originating stations on every line to ensure the smooth movement of yoga enthusiasts.

The first services will run at different timings on select routes, with the train from Kirti Nagar to Brigadier Hoshiar Singh station departing at 4:10 AM, and the Dwarka to Dhansa Bus Stand train leaving at 4:15 AM. Services will run at 30-minute intervals until 6 AM, after which regular Sunday schedules will resume.

Authorities said the special arrangement aims to support large-scale participation in Yoga Day events and ensure convenient travel for citizens attending programmes across the city.

Across India, organisers are holding full-scale preparations for International Yoga Day, with events taking place in cities including Kolkata, Hyderabad, Jodhpur and New Delhi.

Political leaders, yoga practitioners, diplomats and citizens are joining celebrations that promote yoga as a global wellness practice.

In Kolkata, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to lead the main event, officials from the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga said he will perform yoga with thousands of participants.

Leaders in different states highlighted yoga’s global recognition and credited India’s efforts in promoting the practice internationally.

In Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu joined yoga guru Baba Ramdev at the Undavalli Caves for Yoga Day celebrations, while other states also hosted large-scale awareness programmes ahead of June 21.
