Woman kidnapped on camera from Gwalior petrol pump
In a shocking incident reported in Gwalior, two miscreants on a bike abducted a woman at a crowded bus stand in broad daylight on Monday. The horrific act was captured by CCTV cameras installed at the bus stand.
The incident unfolded around 9:30 AM as the woman, accompanied by her family, disembarked from a bus at Jhansi Road Bus Stand near Gwalior. The victim, a resident of Barha village in Bhind, is a student at Sevdha College.
While the family was occupied unloading their luggage, the woman’s child requested a washroom break. She took the child near a petrol pump when, suddenly, the two miscreants on a bike arrived. One of them forcibly lifted the young woman onto the bike, and they swiftly sped away.
The entire incident, crucial for the investigation, was captured on CCTV cameras. The two alleged perpetrators remain unidentified, prompting the police to work on ascertaining their identities and whereabouts.
Promptly reporting the abduction to the police, the victim’s family initiated a search operation under the jurisdiction of the Jhansi Road police station. As of now, the alleged abductors are on the run, and the police are actively working to locate and apprehend them. Further investigation is underway.
The incident has ignited serious concerns about women’s safety in Madhya Pradesh, a state already infamous for crimes against females. According to National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB) data, between 2019 to 2021, at least 2 lakh women were reportedly missing in the state—the highest figure among all states.
The alarming statistics and the recent incident underscore the urgent need for addressing and improving women’s safety in the region.
